Today is my Aunt Abbie's 80th birthday. Amazingly, given how badly she was doing just two months ago, she is still with us. She is actually doing better now that she is on Hospice than before. That really is not so unusual, since what she is being treated for, and how, changes when the focus goes to palative care.
I was a little heart broken when I called today and spoke to her. She did not sound like the Aunt Abbie I remembered. But she did sound good, and she was coherent so that was even better. In honor of Aunt Abbie's birthday, I am re-posting my favorite picture of her.

Glad you are getting time to spend with your aunt. Tell her Happy Birthday for me.
Wish I could be with her in person, but she is in Denver and I am stuck here in Omaha. But, I know all three of her children and their spouses and children are visiting her daily.
